Welcome aboard Fly High Aviation Media! Get ready to take off with us as we bring you an exclusive report and pictures of the Lufthansa Airbus A380 returning to service on the Munich to Dulles International route, FHAM were invited along to witness the arrival of the first Lufthansa A380 to return to service on the Munich route after the covid breakout, with a retirement of most of the worlds largest passenger carriers, such as A380’s and B747’s, it is a very welcoming sight to see these giants of the sky come back into service.
Our visit started with a trip out to the live runway 01R on one of the very famous mobile lounges, we parked up and did not have to wait too long before the Airbus A380 appeared on the downwind leg of its approach, very soon the A380 was on short finals to land, the Airbus A380 made a really smooth landing, for an aircraft of its size and weight it was also very quiet.
We made a hasty return to the mobile lounge, to reposition and catch the water cannon salute, we were able to get very close to the aircraft as it was pulled onto a stand as the sun was setting, a truly remarkable aircraft in size and stature, especially so close as we were.
On my return to the car park I was able to catch another Airbus A380 this time in British Airways colors. I was interested in this aircraft as I have a future trip booked to the UK later this summer.
We'd like to give a special thank you to the staff, organizers, volunteers and customer service team, from MWAA Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, for making our visit to the airport an enjoyable one. A big shoutout to Rubin Tian and Amanda Ohbayashi for their dedication and hard work in keeping the event running smoothly.

Here I caught a few more pictures of the international visitors that come to Dulles International on a daily basis, and when I got to my car I was lucky to time it to catch the British Airways Airbus A380 landing on runway 01C, later this summer I will be flying to the United Kingdom on the British Airways A380, I am looking forward to that.
